I just bought a pair of the Shimano MT32 shoes and I installed the cleats that came with my CB Eggbeaters. While pedaling I hear a grinding like noise from both pedals constantly. When I put my old shoes on there is no noise. I'm not switching the cleats over though as I had cleats that came with the EB Candy's that came with the bike. The cleats look slightly different. Is the noise coming from the cleats, the screws, do I need the spacer plate? I've tried going through trial and error to eliminate the sound, but I can't figure it out and I'm wondering if anybody has had the same experience.

did you try putting some dry lube on the cleat/engagement contact areas?

No they will work the same but I do put lock-tite on the threads. I haven't ever had a problem with the bolts coming loose.
