What's a 2012 Trek Marlin worth in excellent shape?

Contemplating potential used bike purchase for my brother/wife (similar height, she's a little taller actually).

Don't want to make bad used bike purchase.

which version marlin?

seems there was a WSD, SS, and "standard 29r" - seems the 29r was $600 new.

the current marlin 5 is $500, with mech brakes and 21 speed -

gotta be worth about half or less of what it was new? ????
