I want to ride some trails but the only one I k.ow and ride is allamuchy and it is 1hr plus to drive there so it is not practical for.me to.drive there after work. I would love to find a trail within a half hour of south plainfield, new brunswick or union any help.would be greatly appreciated

Rutgers Ecological Preserve looks really close...It looks a bit small but I have never been there so it might be fun.

Thanks a bunch guys. I never knew there were trails that close. I think I'm gonna try them all in the coming weeks if we ever get sunshine again. 😀

Here is a NJ trail directory that can help you find the closest trails to home or work.http://www.mtbnj.com/wiki/Category:Trail_Directory

I live in the next town over from you in Cranford. The closest trails (chimney rock, lewis morris) are 45 min away with traffic. Unfortunately there are no really close trails but at the same time non are that far away either. From Cranford I can make it to most places in about an hour. Or I'll bring my bike to work and stop at a trail on the way home.

Its ok to ride in the rain I think??
I believe it is friwned upon to ride a trail in rainy muddy conditions because you ruin the trail by digging in and creating ruts. And it just plain suckscold and wet.

What do u think about those trails? I'm going to ride either chimney rock or six mile on Thursday at 6pm. Do u ride on the road I ride our area quite often on my tricross I could use a partner for some motivatiion

Chimney Rock is good but needs a lot of dry down time after a rain, it stays muddy. Its the closest trail for some technical riding/rocks.

6 Mile is fast and flowey but also needs dry time post rains. This place has some great single track. Getting there from Cranford can be a hassle unless you drive there in off peak hours. I don't get to 6 mile much due to traffic issues.

I do road ride as well, this is one of my chill rides in you neighborhood.

I'll pm you for a recovery/chill ride one of these days, I usually head out by 4-5pm wkdays.
