I wouldn't mind helping, I only work 3 days a week. I just don't know the trails real good but I like riding there. I have some 10ft 4x4 pressure treated wooden railroad ties I'd be willing to donate, but somebody would have to pick them up(pick up truck needed) . I live in Sicklerville.
 
Any time your ready let me know....a few branches need trimming. Bridges and boardwalks are OK for now. Maybe a bridge on the other end of town where the old tree crossing was?!?

I usually ride with 4-5 other people. They are also interested in building up Ceres. If possible we should all get together to ride and throw out some ideas as we pass different areas. Send me a pm to set something up.
 
I'd be willing to help out with trail work or whatever. I have a truck for moving supplies also. Shoot me a pm when this is gonna happen and hopefully i'm not working!

i dont see why it wouldnt be. We'd just be clearing the trails, fixing damaged bridges or what not, and maybe making some new things back there(probably out of natural resources). I dont think there would be anything illegal in that, right?

I don't know what is and isn't legal. It sounds harmless enough but you should probably ping KenS. I think he's in charge down there now. He'd be able to say what is and isn't kosher.

Don't mean to sound like a wet rag, but if the wrong person sees you, it could be a sticky situation.

I am in no way connected to Ceres other than living somewhat close. I can assure you that the trailwork you are describing is at best not condoned by the park. At worst it is a future reason for the park to ban bikes there.

It is always smart to get permission before digging/building. Those who do it out in the middle of nowhere certainly dont post it on the interweb.

I was purposely avoiding this thread, but figured I should reply since norm mentioned my name. 😀

Best of luck out there. I have to hit that park up sometime soon, sounds like a nice place to ride.

KenS is down by the shore around Cape May.
Ceres Park is closer to Philadelphia than the shore.
I do not know if anyone is working with Mantua Township or Gloucester County on the legality of building trails or structures on the property.
Most of the trails have been out there for 15 - 20 years. Locals on ATV's and dirt bikes cut most of the original trails.

after getting a guided tour I'd have to say that it's fairly built up, especially compared to what else is local. It'd be nice if the trails were colored coded (maybe they are), all I ever see is red dots on trees. plan on riding there alot more now that I have an entirely new way to get lost 😉
 
Hey Josh, we should work on removing that tree blocking the back berms. I have a chain saw, just needs to be sharpened. Whoever extended that main bridge, great job!!!!
 
Hopefully cleaning up trails and fixing broken or unsafe bridges would be view as making the trails safer for bikers, runners, and hikers.
