Trail Building Progress

Last night 3 of us worked on the Ringwood-Ramapo re-route, and the amounts of running water and mosquitos were record highs IMO. I have never seen so many mosquitos in all my life. Just a heads up to weekend riders, please allow a few days to let trails drain off and bug repellant is recommended.

me too, and this one we are working on now is a killer steep hike-a-bike. The new section should be awesome! I think we are going to get a good chunk of that done by year end. If we do, we will get the signs updated, and start working from Skyline back next year. 🙂

Finished the steep hike-a-bike re-route last Thursday, thanks to volunteers. Trail markers moved and old trail re-claimed. Blowdowns removed as well. Still have a few more re-routes on schedule, but we are chipping away out there and will be up to the old guard trail (green) soon. Please check it out.

Next and probably last weekend work day for this year: August 14, Sunday.

If you want to ride in, meet at the worksite between 9 and 1.

If you prefer to walk in with the crew: meet at Stop & Shop parking lot at 8:30 to carpool to Mountainside and walk in from the tank. Expect a steep 20 minute hike to worksite. RSVP recommended rvcc(at)jorba(dot)org

We hope to get this trail pretty ridable in the next few weeks and take a break for the year. Thanks to all those that have worked in extreme heat and thunderstorms this year. Please get out and ride before summer is gone!

Last Sundays work was cancelled due to rain. We have rescheduled for Sunday Aug 28.

I had the opportunity to ride this trail out to yellow and back last night.
First and most important Thank you!!!!. This trail may be the best trail I have ever ridden. I cannot imagine how many man-hours have gone into this trail, but I can appreciate the efforts of all who have helped and especially A W.
So as I am riding the trail back down towards Ringwood thinking about the amazing trailwork, I notice another rider (much much more capable than I) headed down. I let him by, but caught up to him as he was waiting for another rider by the stream crossing. It was AW himself and he was waiting for pixie (who I admit is also far more capable on the trails than I).
What could be better than thinking about how great this trail is, and meet the designer and head trailwork contractor on your first ride of the entire trail!.
If any of you have the chance, take a moment to thank these two people for their amazing efforts.

Thanks Dirt Dawg, but it's volunteers like you that get a trail like this built. Thanks to ALL the volunteers! ... and great to see people out enjoying the trail. Hearing positive feedback makes all the planning and work seem so worthwhile. 🙂
