TPU Bike Tubes

So digging up an old thread cause I learnt me something today. Got myself into a predicament where I needed my tube. I had a cheap Amazon Ride Now tpu tube and the wheel in question was a i9 enduro S. Both the tube and the rim were presta type.

When I went to put the tube in, the OD of the stem was bigger than the ID of the stem hole. So as we know big thing don’t fit in small hole. So before you grab one of these tubes throw it in your pack till you need it, make sure the valve stem hole is big enough for your tube.

I dont carry tubes anymore....havent for many years now that I run inserts....but like a month ago I was on a ride and popped a spoke...Didnt realize it broke until it went thru the rim tape....bam, instant flat.....One of the guys had one of these tpu tubes, so I pulled the insert out and tried it.....it inflated, held for about 90 seconds, then exploded.

So needless to say, I havent ordered any.

They're not all the same. I went through the same issue (even though in my case I was luckier but stupider, when the spoke broke it did not perforate the tape, I did not wrap it around another one and it eventually perforated the tape) and the tubolito worked perfectly. Some other brand I got from ebay for the fat bike came pre-perforated instead (had like a half dozen of micro punctures on both the tubes I used) so it did not hold air. I guess you get what you paid for...

Did you check the tire before installing the tube? I can imagine with tubeless there may be some thorns in the tire that would be sealed and go unnoticed but would puncture a tube quickly.
