Time and Space cannot contain me ...

1speed

Incredibly profound yet fantastically flawed
Last night, I was doing a typical weeknight ride in Wissahickon and at one point I was riding along Forbidden Drive and glanced down at my Garmin and saw it instantly jump from about 13 miles to 18 then 19 and finally 20 miles before returning to normal recording. So I continued along on my ride, and when I got home and uploaded the ride, this is what I saw:

And my top speed was 401.1 mph for the ride.

So obviously what happened is that I slipped into a wormhole on Forbidden Drive and was teleported across a fold in time to just outside Camden in the middle of the Ben Franklin Bridge. I can't recall any of this, but I figure that's because my high rate of speed caused me to momentarily black out. Traveling through a wormhole will do that to a brother, you dig? When you consider it, "wormhole" is the only plausible explanation given the constraints - singlespeed, Valley Green, Camden -- I mean it practically borders on cliche. Because ... SCIENCE!!!!

Clearly this supports the idea that our entire universe is a computer simulation. I was telling @UtahJoe about it last night. This would be evidence of a computer glitch.

I love Elon Musk's explanation for this, paraphrasing of course, "We are getting pretty good at AI and computer stuff, therefore some other species probably got good at AI and computer stuff before us, and therefore our world is a computer simulation of theirs."

My point last night was that it is only a matter of time before @gtluke starts insisting that this is the case.

if you understand math at all, you have to know that there is like a 0.0000000000000000000000001% chance that we aren't living in a computer simulation.
Musk is late to the game, I've been discussing this forever. Well not forever. But since Rogan introduced me to rational psychonauts like Alan Watts

This does fill the gaps in my own theory that our world an abacus-simulation. IN hindsight, computer simulation makes more sense.

I'm not saying Musk came up with this idea or that it is new. He was recently asked if he believed that to be the case though, and while he wouldn't say "yes I believe we are living in a computer simulation," he said he believes that there was a one in billions chance that we aren't.

Anybody every watch The Thirteenth Floor?

Also, similar to Godwin's Law, I propose the following law:

"As an online discussion with @gtluke grows longer, the probability of Joe Rogan being brought up approaches 1."
That's for sure. I just finished episode #808 last night and started on #809
808 x 3 / 8 = 303 8 hour days listening to his stupid podcast continually. there are 261 work days in a year. So it's basically been my full time job for over a year 😉
I"m a good chunk through Azimov's books too so that takes up a lot of time. It took almost a year to get through the entire Dune series 2 years ago.
I'm on Stars Like Dust right now and finished Fantastic Voyage on Sunday.

Yeah I like Rogan and have listened to his podcast, but I don't have 60 hours a week free to listen to him.

Did you listen to the new books that Frank Herbert's son and Kevin J Anderson put out, or just the originals? I read some of them and they were pretty good, but I really like Kevin J Anderson's stuff in general. I read Dune Messiah and Children of Dune in about a day each, but it took me longer to get through God Emperor of Dune because shit got weird.

Yeah I actually started with the first 3 family books by Anderson. I thought they were okay, they painted a better picture for me when I got deeper into the Herbert stuff.
I really hope when Game of Thrones is over that HBO picks up Dune.
If I had a boy dog I would name him Duncan Idaho 🙂

Did you see the sci fi channel mini-series? They were both really well done. I feel like we've discussed this before.

Yeah and the BBC one on Children of Dune.
They are okay. They really need to do it with a good budget and have fun with the sandworms.

Marty did you take the Blue pill or the Red one? Did you see Morpheus?

If by "Morpheus" you mean "a homeless man furiously playing with himself in the park above Poop Shoot Trail" then indeed I did see "Morpheus". I've seen "Morpheus" at Wissahickon quite a few times in fact ... quite ... a ... few ... times ...
