So.... I got pulled over last week for the bike/rack blocking the license plate.
Has anyone had this, is there any way to fight it or do I just have to pay up?
FYI, this was in NY not NJ

I got pulled over on I80. Of course I was going about 85 at the time, so that prolly had something to do with it. I just paid it because it was that or a ticket/points for the speeding violation. Oh, PBA card helps too...

There's been a few threads here talking about these issues. I haven't had a problem, but I also dont leave my rack on the truck/car.

interesting timing since the last week or so I have been actually riding my MTB with my son, so I left the rack (T2 XT Pro2) on the back folded up and been driving back and forth to the new job on 287/206 at least 2-3 days during the week now. normally its in my garage.

If this is the "get a ticket for the blocked plate" and not speeding idea then I may leave it on the car for now. about to drive home soon and go for a ride with him actually, hope this does not jinx me.

I've gotten pulled over for one but not ticketed - actually more so because one of the wheel trays blocked the tail light. Cop was like "hey did you know..."

Nope no vape kid car (not really sure what that is LOL)
And I was definitely not speeding.

Anything with any of these stickers.

I used to get pulled over for it when I left the 1UP rack on my Accord, but was not ticketed once I explained what it was and offered to fold it down because the rack oxidized to the hitch. However, I did get a ticket once two Accords ago when I used to drive a lot faster instead of them issuing me a speeding ticket. That one was on the GSP, so I guess it was an acceptable trade off. Still irked me though!

Was there a bike on it? It seems so in the desc.
didn't like the way you looked.

The bike was on it.
It was strange, I was stopped a draw bridge, I see a cop (state trooper) walking around through all of the cars that were stopped.
I start driving once the draw bridge was lowered and all of a sudden he was behind me with lights flashing, seems like he was just walking through the cars trying to find someone that he could ticket for some offense, I guess the state needs money. I honestly had no idea why I was getting pulled over.
The car is a brown 15 year old audi sedan, it's gotta be one of least flashy cars around.

In any case, back to my original question, is there any point to trying to plead not guilty, or just pay it and move on? Does it put points on your license?

I'd pay it. No points. Cheaper than going to court and dealing with it. At least in NJ.
