This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

Based on the current no politics rule in this thread. I will just say that when I refer to "they" it is those who are using this "crisis" to ease the country into socialism. Preying on fear to force people rely on bigger government to run every aspect of our lives. I know what state I live in and which direction most of the people lean here... Research it. Or don't. Figure it out for yourself, or blindly rely on what the government is saying. I don't care what you do. They forced us into this situation and now they say they can fix it. A real world example of this is me smashing your bike with a sledgehammer and promising I can fix it.

Damn... I knew Birx was up to no good!

That's what I suspected and I'm not going to really argue this topic, regardless of the rules in the thread, because I'm not going to change your opinion. I'll just say that the push to social distancing and those types of measures has not been driven by one party or any one group with a singular viewpoint. Done pulling on this thread...probably don't need to take this any further.

Probably shouldn't, but I'll bite. Who is "they"? Appreciate that at least you're up-front about embracing conspiracy theories but I'm not sure I even follow what this conspiracy is and who is in on it.

Usually, it's Obama: this is what my older, white friends tell me EFD

if i was going conspiracy, i'd say there is more fame to be garnered by leading out of a bad situation than averting it.
so i could put a chip on that square, but not bet the house.

here is a good one - the NJ gig worker unemployment insurance for gig workers that can document their income.
this is brilliant! There is something for 1099 workers also, so it isn't all about flushing out the people who don't claim taxes.

i differ in that i still think shit will hit the fan without all of us playing under the same guidelines - and in some places, law.
If mass transit was a key transmission spot, then crowded bars or arenas have to be considered suspect.
I'm up for opening some places - not gyms. not bowling alleys. people should be able to make up their own mind about 1-on-1 contact.
like the barber/hair/nails -

Businesses should be allowed to figure out their own way to minimize contact. Businesses that do a good job would be rewarded with customers
that are comfortable doing business with them. that would seem to be the new normal?

as an example - one deli has a sign that says "masks required" another does not.
Then each person can choose which one they are willing to go to.

I'll be participating in anything with contact tracing - which seems so 1984 (book, not year)
Want to talk about gvt power - throw that in with all the DNA collected.

I am not blind to these hypothesis, but it is hard to fart w/o TMZ finding out about it.

I’m guessing the Tri-lateral commission is raising a glass of fine aged bourbon (or the blood of a baby) and toasting to their success is conquering the blathering idiots of the world.

I don't see any evidence of this. States across the country have varying degrees of restrictions and nowhere else blew up. The phased reopening makes sense to me - even Cuomo says certain regions of NY will open sooner than others. Social distancing continues with all these plans.

Curious tho, is mass transit open in NYC? Are people taking the subway??

i don't think some places should be able to have a huge concert, and others not. Or fill baseball stadiums. I think it should be opened on a consistent and scientifically sound basis.
Even sweden does not allow groups of 50 or more.

subway/bus is running. good article on reducing the number of trains, created more density on the ones left, which may have helped spread
the virus faster.

Mass transit still running. Probably only used by essential workers at this point.
