This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

This kid is at the hospital my sister works at. Perfectly healthy 25yo. Terrible. Family can't even visit him.

This really stands out;
"Allard, of Ridgewood, told Daily Voice that she cannot understand how celebrities, politicians and NBA players are quickly getting COVID-19 test results, while "my son is deteriorating. He's in regulatory limbo." "

The APHA and National Academy of Medicine is hosting a series of webinars,

Forecast looks like a great day for a webinar.

Every story like this has me one step closer to locking the door for good.

This is what hospitals are fighting against. This is in Teaneck. Lack of PPE, only 3 ventilators left (once used up, people will literally be drowning in the hallway), and 4 doctors down with covid 19. I don't really care about the numbers at this point, this is scary.

And in the meantime some are still going for group rides...

heart breaking and shocking considering his age and good health. Scary stuff. Hopefully the new treatment works for him.

Its disturbing how some folks are rooting for some of these experimental treatments to fail for political reasons

I haven't seen anyone hoping they would fail. Just trying to say there needs to be some real testing before they start giving it to everyone as the miracle cure.

People have been trying to get remsdesivir (the drug in the article) through compassionate use, which is a lengthy process and they are overloaded with requests right now. Gilead stopped talking requests for the program yesterday, but have clinical trials going on for it. Hopefully something good comes of it soon. With hospitals getting overloaded and trump trying to return things to normal, I don't think we have much time.

Group rides? people are still going to the liquor store....I mean if its true that this virus is transmitted by touching surfaces, I feel a hell of alot better about riding with a few friends at a safe distance than going to a store.

The food stores are still plenty crowded all day every day. While I understand that people need to eat (let's ignore the 430,000 calories of food in the cabinet) it's almost surely 50x more likely you get My Sharona Virus at the food store than running into someone on a bike.

And to Jim's point, every item I bring in the house from the food store also carries the risk. And my mail. And newspapers. And any packages being delivered.

Nobody else touched my bike this week. Or last week.

true, I also feel better hitting my head with a hammer than with an axe or jumping in front of a train. So there's that.

I'm not going to stop living my life any less than I have to. Everything you do in life is a risk. You risk death every time you get in a car and drive on the highway, but pretty much everyone does that just about every day. Life is risk management. Take the risks you want to get the enjoyment that you can. I'm trying to limit interaction with others as much as possible, but I'm not gonna stop riding bikes with my friends if they want to keep riding with me.

I would like to ride a tandem bike with you
