Things that make you frown :(

This is getting frustrating, every day we gong at least one on the poor bigger. What commercial drug has isoxazaline or is something to be strictly prescribed by a vet? She’s not due a visit for a while, November I thing…
Its the drug class for the popular meds like Bravecto, Simparica and Nextgard. Though they require a prescription for the oral dose, not sure if the topical version needs one. If your vet has prescribed tick meds in the past, then they'll likely help you refill. I'm using Frontline topical as I'm currently in between vets and don't have an appointment till September. It's supposedly clinical inferior to the isoxazalines and I prefer the oral dosages, but it better than not protected at all. If dog wonder continues to get ticks, I'll just schedule an earlier appointment. Btw, tick season is now 365, we don't have cold enough winters to kill them off, even in your neck of the woods. My old vet also said north Jersey has an Adirondack variety with is even more cold tolerant. Be sure to check Bailey after walks, especially often missed areas like under the ears and the underside. Ticks seem to love under the ears of mine.

Thank you for the feedback, we actually got a prescription for NextGuard from our Vet.

I'm checking her every single time we take her out now, she actually seems to enjoy the attention and being brushed with a fine comb...I guess it's the new routine!

Converting the gravel el mariachi to UDH just because. Ordered the Salsa UDH plates, specs call for a M12x1.0x171mm rear axle. The wolftooth closer to the size was 174 and leaves about 1.5 mm play, so I figured I ordered tha SRAM UDH 171.5mm 12x1.0 and bam, just gently trying to thread the SRAM axle into the UDH adapter the axle thread is stripped! Mind you, the axle is marked 174 x 12x1.0 so it doesn’t make any sense it wouldn’t thread into its own (or that it would be sold as 171.5, thank you SRAM, I knew there was something keeping me away…).

I know this is a first world problem but I’m really major frown on this one.

After a great 65 mile ride on Sunday, came home knowing I need to cut the grass. Since the line trimmer was not working the last 2 weeks the edges were all overgrown especially around the pool.

Yup you guessed it. Somewhat self inflicted somewhat well the pool is 22 years old and was rusting out along the bottom in more spots than this one. After the leak started it went kinda like this:

- repetitive cursing.
- told wife I f*cked up the pool
- told young adult sons the pool is f*cked
- drove to and from Lowes (lucky no cops) to get flexseal stuff and goggles from the dollar store while boys took pool cover off
- more repetitive cursing
- changed to swimsuit and had to get in the ~55F pool like a goddamn cold plunge to seal it off as best I could before I got hypothermic
- more really loud repetitive cursing.

Then I had to finish cutting the yard. Then I had to take a hot shower I was still cold.

It held pretty good to a very slow trickle until I could get a hold of a pool repair guy today that said either way it’s gotta be drained but that pool has to be replaced can’t be patched with other steel pieces. FML.

New pool price plus removal plus install = OMFG I’m gonna need to rob a bank. TBD if I replace it or just concede to no more pool.

Out of the 5 members of this household im
The one that uses it the most especially after a hot summer bike ride.

As I write this I’m draining it out with a spare sump pump i had on standby because I was supposed to replace the one In the basement 3 months ago.

Sigh.

This is what my rusty spot looked like when I decided to tear the pool down. Liner was still holding, but I couldn't imagine it would last long. I used a sawzall to cut the pool into pieces and called a scrap metal collector to come take it away. Tearing the deck down was the hardest part for me. 30' round pool, deck around the entire thing.

Turned it all into grass.

Pool patch kits work under water. No need to drain.
agree but in this scenario (Sunday at 5PM) and with the water already flooding the yard there was no time or chance for this unless I had it on hand already.

the closer I look the more spots along the bottom I can see are not in great shape as well. I dont think mine is in that bad shape but two different pool companies already said they dont do any patching or repairs to the pool walls due to safety/liability issues. I think this falls into the category of "just because you can do it doesnt mean you should"

In other related break news, a good family friend in the neighborhood has decided to take down their 21' round pool and they offered it for free - only about 8 years old and they dont really use it anymore. It includes a propane heater.

I have to check a little more into this and go see it to see if its worth the cost to have someone take it down and move it here, its something way beyond my Youtube certifications.

My advice is just find a neighbor with a pool and sneak in.

we put up my brother's pool - wasn't hard. all the metal parts need to be tied together with a bare ground wire, which is then tied to the pump.

you already have the area prep'd - call the scrap metal guy, and he'll take down the old one.

Big black and white sign with the red circle that says “No Cell Phone Use Please silence your phone and do not talk on the phone” in doctors waiting area.

Lady walks in on her phone, check in at reception and continues to talk about how to look up some video on a web site. Said “I’m at the doctor I can’t talk now “ but stayed on the phone for 10 minutes.
