i have only ridden a small stretch of those tracks and they were sketchy (for me, at least)...off camber etc...do they get any better? i'll have to try to ride that stretch sometime

They are pretty much crap the whole way. I slid down the easement like a dozen times.

Indeed it is steep. You might want to try Chimney Rock Road. I think it does have a fair amount of traffic but I think when I used it as an easy way over the ridge running SS and it was ‘ok’.
