Day 17

I met up with Kirt, JimN, and Capers to ride Ringwood this morning, I knew it was going to be hot. But it was hotter than that. Good god, just absurd.

14+ miles in just under 2.5 hours

I forgot my HRM which is probably good, because it would have shown just how porrly I fared today. I have not struggled on a ride this badly in maybe 10+ years. This brought back memories of the Mooch 50k and absolutely scraping myself forward. In the last 10 minutes I pretty much only rode downhill and got off to walk uphill.

Tried a mixed surface ride to mix things up. Stopped at the old chicken farms at the South Branch preserves. Pretty creepy for a nature preserve. Turn off to try to ride some trails at park of of Blackpoint Rd and forgot I wasn't riding the MTB as I came off the road onto the gravel. I was reminded quickly when I was instantly laying on my side bedazzled with gravel. Luckily only some scrapes and nothing broken, I'm OK too.

Holy moly was it hot today. I was not doing well in the heat and was dragging. The rain at the end of the ride actually felt good. Go figure!

Just catching up on all the posts and kudos to everyone still in it. After Monday I ended up with a nasty sinus infection that had me out of commission this whole week so don’t even know if I will make the 20+ category anymore.

Hope to try an easy ride tmw now that my head doesn’t feel like it weighs 500lbs
