So obvious but at the same time not. Give it a nod every time
I have looked at this with a few different people and mostly recently with my son. The likely of catching the end of this log is high.(Yesterday, but when I got home after the ride, I turned on TNF I forgot to post...)

Stopped to look at this section closer, despite the fact we've ridden it hundreds of times. Tom wondering... "Can I gap all of this?"

Yeah... sure... When I get delusions of grandeur like this, I feel a twinge in my left collarbone that reminds me I'm 55 and not to be contemplating such ideas. Granted, Tom is the same age I am but he has a lot more skill than I do and his ability to corner and speed is at a level I can only dream of.
Definitely. I absolutely do not trust my skills to make that corner at mach-chicken speed. Get it wrong and the chances of it being a seriously bad day are high.I have looked at this with a few different people and mostly recently with my son. The likely of catching the end of this log is high.

That being said, I think I am going to cut of the end of that as that log really serves no purpose at this point. Regardless if you gap it you will come into that corner HOT.
I almost over cooked that lower corner this week, and yes if you ditch it on the DH side it aint going be good.Definitely. I absolutely do not trust my skills to make that corner at mach-chicken speed. Get it wrong and the chances of it being a seriously bad day are high.
I'm already brake-dragging down that section and I still have to really concentrate. Even then, I've had a few close-calls drifting wide.
Tom described one time when he rolled the rocks next to the first tree, then did a manual down the next part putting the front wheel down in your circle roughly between the angled rock and the side log. He said he was really moving when he hit the corner, but was able to make it.
I don't know if I'd change anything to that log. Face it, if you are at the end of that log at speed, you're going to be in a world of pain regardless of the log. If the log makes the less-skilled slow up when coming down that section, it's probably not a bad thing.

Feels good to grip some handlebars, eh?
