Tell me where you rode today...

Dupont State Park in North Carolina. Weather is perfect down here.

Took this picture 1 minute before attempting to ride across a river and completely failing and falling in. Did a weird loop and was 10 miles from the car and didn't want to back track. Back tracked...

I think so? It was the southwest part of the park which doesn't seem as popular. Was definitely not a water destination like all the waterfalls.

The water didn't seem high and I tried to ride across it and as soon as my tire went underwater I slid right out, slicker than ice. I barely was able to make it 3 feet back to dry rock. Oh well.

A local told us at the parking lot later in the day, don't do it barefoot, keep your socks on. Bring an extra pair to change into after crossing.

This was the scariest moment of the whole trip.

If you fell, downstream looked like this.

@JDurk

Thanks, that sheds light on WTF people actually do. I didn't think anyone actually crossed there and honestly if I had to do it all over again I'd be happy to either skip that section of the park or just backtrack on the same trails we came in on and not bother with the crossing.

While it's nice to add in that section of the park it's not as much fun as the north side. Seems like a TON of potential over there however.

How were the conditions? I'm one of the trail stewards for Sterling. Sadly, I haven't been over there since I got injured 4 months ago. I was thinking of riding there today.
Conditions where great on Monday, frozen dirt helps a lot!

Nice meandering ride around Allaire today. A bit wet in spots, but nothing too bad. I was really hoping to ride the Chameleon, but it turns out the new pads I bought some months ago are the wrong type. ...anyone in need of J03A or J02A pads? :smh:

In all, a good way to round out 2021.
