Despite the recent rain, the trails were in good condition. Lots of motos (and one quad) today. Kind of a double-edge sword. They have been on one descent but in a way, they churned up the surface a bit which made the Schwalbe radial tires really dig in and grip.
And I spotted a fellow mtbnj'er although I don't know who - didn't see them and the van was gone after we finished our first lap:
Finally returned to the "scene of the crime" that had me e-bike shopping back in June 2024...
It flurried off and on for much of the ride. Schwalbe radials dig into snow crust pretty well and aren't too sketchy on ice-covered roots and rocks.
Tom made a couple of run-ups, but ultimately said, "not today..."
The picture lies... that rock "wall" is actually the other side of an old bridge abutment and I'm standing on the other side - roughly where the landing is. The gap over the creek below is about 12' across and the water is about 8' down. From lip to landing is about 25'. It actually looks worse from this side. According to Tom, when rolling up to the lip you don't really see what you're jumping over, so all about speed and commitment. I can already tell he wants to go back and hit it...
