TEKTRO HD-E730 Brakes

I have a friend considering buying a Chinese bike equipped with these brakes. Tried to talk him into a better brand name but this is the route he's intent on. Bike comes with these brakes: TEKTRO HD-E730. Never heard of them. Any opinions/experience with these? Thanks, MW

No, never heard of that model. But Tektro is TRP so they may not be terrible.

Tektro have been around for quite a while. I remember seeing them in the wholesale catalogs 25+ years ago. As mentioned, they are the "T" in TRP, so one would think some of the TRP brake tech has trickled down to the budget lines.

The only reason I might suggest against them is if they use less-common pads. One advantage of Shimano and SRAM brakes is most bike shops will have them in stock. But some of the other brands will use pads by one of the majors. For example, Paul's Components Klampers use SRAM pads.
