In case we get a ride-able dump of snow on Weds, anyone interested in an early AM snow ride on the fatties on Turkey Day? Where depends on how much snow we get, but I'm game if it's within 30 mins drive of Morristown.

Depending on snow on wednesday , we are planning to ride DP in the afternoon on wed around 4. we have 4 that are going , all on fatties

Ice - I was planning on the traditional Waway ride on T-day morning. If that becomes impractical due to snow, my fallback plan was a local FAT ride. Keep in touch...

I was planning to be at wayway also and I don't have a fallback plan, fat bike or family approval yet, west milford area expecting 6 to 10 inches but I've been in worse

I'm down for local tomorrow (probably, wife check needed 😀 ) if we can roll early? Might even go fart around tonight.

I'm game for early tomorrow, local. we got around 4-5 of heavy/wet. Did a driveway ride right now and no issues. I live near Loantaka Park, would consider that for tomorrow AM, or Patriot's Path (Speedwell Lake). Both of which are generally flat. Anything with hills in this type of snow will be a grunt. Lemme know.

I'm in for tomorrow Ice. Just let me know when and where. Never did the Loantaka ride but don't really have a preference one way or the other.

So what's the plan? I was going to the wayway ride too but I think fatties might work better in this condition. I'm up for an early ride too. Lmk.

Blad, pare, Kamusta ka?

Rob, Blad, going to do some recon on my drive into town tonite and will report back by 8:00 or so.

Dave, Rob, Blad....Ok, i checked out Loantaka, it's a good bet. The wet snow will be heavy going but is rideable. There are about 8 miles of trails in the park. Should be good for a couple hours' ride.

How about 8:00 at the north parking lot? Punch in 467 South Street, Morristown, into Google Maps. The park entrance and parking lot is directly across the street.

I can do earlier if you want. Just let me know what your preference is

I'd like to join you guys but I don't have much time tomorrow since we have visits coming in and a bunch of stuff to do yet. I will probably go to Deer Park for an early lap since that's pretty close to home.

Sorry, couldn't get moving this morning. Almost never get to sleep in so, that happened. 😉
Tourne was pretty good riding though. Fresh tracks!

Glad you got out Dave. Here are pics from the Loantaka ride...

Sorry for the late report Ice. I went to DP yesterday early morning and it had 4 to 6 inches of snow (wet at the bottom, fluffy at the top). The snow was great to ride but it was a pain having to stop every few meters to clear the way. There were A LOT of saplings and branches blocking trails and roads due to the wet snow they had them. Even to get to the parking lot I had to stop and clear the road several times.

I tried a couple of trails but there were too many blockages so I did the fire road to the 2nd parking lot and it was almost the same! So I turned around there. It was a pity because the snow was great to ride.

BTW, there were tracks of a skinny MTB that looked like went out yesterday afternoon and did fine on the wet snow but I could see that most of the blockages happened after he/she rode.

Then I went to try luck in Columbia Trail and it just had about 1 in of slush. I did a few miles there just to get some pedaling done and had to head home.

Loantanka looks good, although not too much snow?

Hey Segundo, those pics look amazing....yes the trees in some of the North/West areas were pretty weighed down (my bro-in-law lives in Kinnelon and they looked like the North Pole on Thurs eve. Wet snow is murder on branches. Loantaka had about 3 inches, and in some spots the trails had thin to no cover as the ground was not frozen hard before the snowstorm. But there was more than enough to make it a fun fat ride. Here's looking forward to the next storm 😉
