Strictly METAL

Without saying anything that will get anyone in trouble, is it as good without those vocals?
This is my third time seeing them in the Mina era, and this one was probably the best. The vocals are certainly off but they still put on a great show. They blew through River Runs Red and it was great. They came back out and played the new song, a handful of songs off of Ugly then finished with Weeds. They should have called it a night after The Stain Remains.....

Yeah just came across this thread somehow.

Over in the guitar thread noted my middle son (20) is currently their lighting tech and he’s on tour with them in Europe since Feb 27th and will be back on April 1st.

Here’s a video they posted from Netherlands I think. he designs and runs all the lights for each venue.

Golden mouth of ruin! Your kid is living the dream bro!

Thanks this thing kinda fell into his lap as this genre of music is not really his thing. But lighting / sound design tech is what he’s after for his young career and this was something he couldn’t pass up.

Us metal guys are all infinitely jealous.
Yes and no. Huge archspire fan here but I’ve worked in production almost 20 years and never really had the desire to tour. I did a mini tour with my own band and it sucked balls. This will be killer experience and a really good add to the resume for him though. But yea….fuck touring lol.

I understand. I currently work in television and did a bunch of production work on commercials. It can be very tedious. Conversely I also roadied for metal bands in Florida for a couple years riding the Florida circuit and it was tons of fun. That being said, we were just a bunch of drunks, and as good as the band I spent the most time with was ( Misery index, not the same band of today) we all knew we were partying too much for it to actually happen for them.
I’d imagine on Archspire’s level you’d have to be super professional, that coupled with it being “a job” because you don’t love the band or music would probably get old pretty quick.

It’s just the living conditions and time away from home for me. I spent the last decade traveling for work, and that was all planes and fancy hotels, and it still took years off of my life and cost me a marriage. Throw in sleeping on a bus with 20 dirty ass metal heads for three months at a time and I’m out. Last may I decided I was officially burnt out and left a very good paying job to focus on life. I guess I’ve built up some resentment towards the whole thing lol. It was definitely fun as hell until it wasn’t.

Yea man. This dirty metal head can’t wait to quit this shit job that pays really well...I’m also totally burned out and really need to focus on life. Maybe when my son goes to college I’ll have my chance….unless someone beats me to death in the field.😂 either way I guess I’ll get to sleep.
Good talking to ya bro.

Honestly it was the best move I ever made. I’m still in the industry but got a cushy production manager job at a university. Now I actually have time to go to shows and not have to see them through friends Instagram feeds lol. I really was getting bitter about how many epic shows I missed, many being bands that don’t play anymore. I had tickets to see Dillinger Escape Plan for my birthday once and got a last minute gig out of the country, figured whatever I’ll catch ‘em next time. They announced at that show that they were retiring the band 😭

Most of the people that I know are burnt out (my wife and I included), except once you have kids all the focus needs to be on them, so no punching out. So, I'll have to push my dream job of being a fly fishing guide off until my kids are out of college and settled, although all my guide friends tell me to do it and not do it at the same time, but that's a different dilemma.

After the Burial dropped a new song today exclusively on Sirius. Ironically a tire on my Audi exploded last night so I borrowed Moms car that has satellite and caught it on my way to work this morning. Meh. They officially lost it after Justin died.

Well looks like he’s coming home this Saturday and heading back out 4/12 for the US tour too.

Last night from Denmark. Tmw they are in Germany again and then they fly home.

They will be at the Gramercy theater in NYC april 21st there’s a more than 50% chance I will go but you won’t find me out on the floor I’ll be either backstage or up in the booth with my son im too old to be mixing it up with the crowd.
