Star Rock Cross

So Time for me to make a little pitch for my team's cyclocross race, which is the second stop in the PACX series.

"Mason-Dixon Velo is excited to announce a new cyclocross venue in the Mid-Atlantic region. To be held on the rolling acreage of Star Rock Farms, this race will be challenging for the participants, but enjoyable for the whole family. Besides the normal barriers, the course features a star-shaped field chicane, a sand pit and a wooded, rocky run-up. The entire course is accessible to spectators."

So come on down, and make a weekend out of it! The race venue is located about 15 min from downtown Lancaster which has tons of great activities. And if you're a beer drinker the venue is within a 30 to 45 min drive as such fine breweries as Troegs, Spring House, Liquid Heros, Lancaster Brewery, ABC, Mudhook, and Iron Hill (We like Beer in central PA). Come see how beautiful Pennsylvania is in the Fall!

Thanks for posting this Glance :D I was excited to support your team until I saw that it is the same day as the Highland Park CX

It's an unfortunate conflict with HPCX, one of the finer MAC races. Make it Nov 5th!

Yes, unfortunately it's on the same day as HPCX. I believe Highland's date hadn't been announced when we picked the date. The weekend after (Nov 5th) is a double header in the PACX series at Bear Creek. It's tough to pick a date for a cross race when there aren't 10 others races going on :D

With a week to go, the course is shaping up nicely. and on Saturday we finished marking it.

That looks like a huge power course. What's the stuff on the right look like?

I really wish I would go and support you guys. But HPCX is right down the road and the family is going. They'll be pissed if I drag them 2.5 hours out there.

What you see here is the back half of the course. The front half (to the right and behind) is much flatter, but in general as you said it's a power course. Despite being tough, it is fun, and in a beautiful location! Wish it wasn't the same weekend as HPCX!

Is it possible to have another race this year at the same location?
And don't yell ... I have feelings :D

Sorry, I don't think we would have the funding to pull off a second race this year. Unless a lot of people register for this race :getsome:

On the plus side we do hope to turn this in to an annual race. Also the property owner owns about 1,000 acres of land and we hope to eventually run a mountain bike race on it once we have developed trails (probably 2 years out).

Race was fun for sure... It's too bad you guys were up against a MAC race. Conditions were pretty rough (but I've raced in worse). The mud was actually pretty ideal in that it was soupy, rather than peanut buttery. Aftermath...

Nice job with the strong race, you dominated!
Leason learned for next year, we'll wait for the MAC series dates to be posted before picking a date for the race.
Thanks for coming out!

I heard great things from a few friends that did this race Glance. Next year for sure ... no matter.
