Sobriety- Alcohol vs ice cream?

I worked with a guy that was a full blown alcoholic, his body reeked of booze every day, Rum drinker. He drank so much that his blood got so thin he started to bleed from his anus. Admitted to the hospital and began to go through alcohol withdrawal. I never knew that alcohol withdrawal was worse then heroin. He went through wet brain while he was going through the process too. Over 3 weeks in the hospital he finally came out. Took less then 24 hours for him to start drinking again. He died on a flight to China 6 months later because he started to go through withdrawal while he was up in the air. There wasn't enough booze on that flight to meet his body's requirement.

The reason I tell this story is to let you know that Ice Cream isn't going to kill you.

Actually, it can kill you. My buddy from college liked to eat. Always ate out, at the wrong times (late), and was a big dessert man. No meal was complete without dessert. He was also a 2 pints of ice cream per day man, in between everything else. He justified all of this because he was fat, but not morbidly obese, just your garden variety fat guy that still went to the gym. He went diabetic without knowing it, went into a coma outside of his apartment door. If a neighbor didn't find him he'd be dead now. Was in that coma for a week at the hospital, they were shocked that he didn't die with where his blood sugar levels were when he came in. Needless to say, his eating habits changed after that.

Jesus, I'm never flying to China!

Ice cream withdrawal won’t kill you, as far as I know. Why take a chance though.

My pop-pop died from liver failure. Drank beer every day, all day, while working with machinery and sharp woodworking tools. Never slurred or stumbled, his tolerance must have been off the charts. Found out after he passed that he was on Normandy Beach during operation Neptune, no wonder he drank so much. Great guy, cursed like a sailor but never talked about the war.
