Would an online petition help the cause?

Maybe... along with a pledge that we the users fund the equipment purchase. Personally, I'd rather have a bridge, but crossing lights would be a lot cheaper.

anyone know why nothing happened crossing/underbridge crossing when they were rebuilding? not filed?

I haven't looked at the bridge, but I'd hazard a guess there isn't enough headroom to ride or walk under it and raising the bridge would have been far more costly due to the additional grading required to elevate the road surface. One would have to go to the records dept and sort through planning board meetings, but I would imagine something was discussed and quickly put aside due to budget reasons.
