Site margins and topic list column width

Is there a way the margins on side of the page can be slimmed down? It's a little cumbersome to read from the phone, partly because of the margins are fairly wide (IMO) and also because of the way the columns are resized when the screen shrinks down. Screen shots are from a PC, but it's the same theory.

When things shrink down all of the columns are equally sized, IMO preference should be given to the title. Is there also a way to mess with this to make it more readable? I'm guessing it's a lot of trial and error to see what works. I wanted to put it out there to see if this is doable, and if anyone else is noticing.

Overall place looks great, I don't want to sound like a complainer. I think this might be a good usability enhancement for all.

Ok I just noticed the phone does it a little differently. I use my phone in landscape mode about 75% of the time. Not sure what the site is picking up on to make this change, but you can see the difference between landscape and portrait in my screen shots. Can this be tweaked to look the same in landscape?

I always us landscape mode for the internet on my phone. The first time I opened the new site I had the same problem RLB had. I just checked now and its better. Weird.

Too many notifications to keep up with.

What browser are you guy using? I get the crappy landscape screen with chrome and another browser.

What is triggering the site to change the way the threads are listed?

The site uses responsive CSS for mobile. Meaning when you size the browser down below a certain pixel width, it will get rid of the columns. Rob your screen is probably longer than Luke's. What phone do you have?

EDIT: Just saw your screenshot. Your phone looks f*cked in landscape mode.

Can you try clearing your cache. Then put your phone in landscape mode. Then go to mtbnj.com and see if that helps?

Oh wait. I'm pretty sure it's because of what I thought originally i.e. due to the browser width. It's also probably a bit wider because you don't have the soft buttons like on Luke's screen. Let me try to pull up the code on screen width.

Tried that, then I unplugged it and hit the reset button. No workie.

Thanks for checking this out man!

Another thing I can try is remove the margins in landscape mode.. I think thats the best solution but more complex to implement.

Or force you to use portrait mode like normal people.

Portrait is not normal!!!!!!

Thanks Jimmy, if it's a 40hr experiment don't worry, I'll deal with it. But if there are some quick tweaks for trial and error that would be cool!

Portrait is not normal!!!!!!/QUOTE]

This. Why would you look at the screen one way then rotate it to type? Anyone who types on a phone with it vertical is a weirdo. Unless its for one hand use.

Its strange tho. As I said before. I had the same issue rob had the first time I used the new site. Now it is better.

OK. Now I don't know how to quote on the new site. Can someone help with that? I don't see a quote button like before.
