Shimano XT Shadow Plus RD

Been using the RD without any chain drops for a few months. Recently noticed some chain noise as if the RD wasn't fully tensioned with the switch in the "ON" position.

On the repair stand, if I shift through the gears into the smaller cogs, and push on the lower pulley area, there's some forward movement allowing the chain slight slack. If I shift back up to the next cog, stiff and no chain slack.

Looking for insight to see if I need to adjust the clutch tighter. I've seen the info on-line on how to do the procedure. Wondering if anyone using this RD has had the same issue.

Thanks,
JD

Yes, after the first handful of rides you need to reset the torque on the clutch band. You will need a torque wrench that shows instantaneous torque value to do it correctly.
