Shimano XT 11sp cassette issue

Haven't ridden my geared HT is quite awhile. Earlier this year, installed a new XT 11sp cassette, along with a new RD and cable, on a Hope Pro 4 135QR hub with an HG freehub body. However didn't ride the bike until recently as I've been full-time SS. Noticed some clunking during a ride the other day and again yesterday. When I got home found that the cassette seemed a bit loose. Pulled the cassette making sure all things were good. Re-installed all spacers and cogs in the same order as removed and made sure to snug it all up tight. Still feels loose and clunks.

With the Pro 4 hub, is there a spacer that is supposed to go on 1st before the first cog cluster? Found some online forum posts saying it's needed for an XT cassette on a Hope road hub, but nothing about the Pro 4.

Sounds like it. Something like this...

Saw that pic. Don't have that spacer.
Can you wiggle the sprockets after the 11t? If so, you need a 1mm spacer. If the freehub is road 11 speed, you need a 1.85mm spacer.
It's possible it's a road freehub. Local shop built the wheel and is very knowledgeable of mtbs but it's possible that the freehub is road 11sp. Previous cassette was SRAM used with XT RD.

Some manufacturers only make one HG freehub (like White Industries). If you buy a mountain bike, you need a spacer on the back for 11 speed mountain.

Google search resulted in this. Which has me wondering, is this not required for a SRAM 11sp cassette? I probably have a 2mm spacer from my SS spacer kit.

Very much needed, yes. I should have one for you if you didn't already source from caff.

Who knew? Thanks, haven't contacted Caffeinated yet. I have the box for the hub from when they built the wheel. Maybe it's still in there.

Could be, that's where my extra spacer is (should be). I still have a set of fatty hubs collecting dust and they come with the spacer.

Couldn't find the box for the Hope hub. Had two 1mm spacers currently not being used on a SS. Installed them last night. Adjusted the cable and limit screws on the RD. Rode this morning and no cassette clunking. But, there is an occasional pop/click when riding in the 11t cog. Not sure if it's the chain coming off the chain ring or the cog.

Will acquire the 1.85mm spacer for the hub to free up the 1mm spacers that do get used on the SS.
