Shimano SPD Pedals - I keep blowing through bearings

I have been partial to shimano pedals since I bought my first set of 747’s in 1997. That being said for the last five years or so I have been running the 520’s or 540’s. Every 2000 miles my right pedal takes a crap and the bearings go to slop or freeze. They are pretty cheap, so i usually just get new ones but I see they are climbing in price. I also think that’s a pretty short life span but whatev’s.

Not looking to switch brands, but do the higher end shimano pedals have a longer life span? Will the XTR pedals fare better? From what I remember the weights were pretty close along the product line. Just looking for something that lasts longer.

Ride flats.understood it’s OT but For $9/ea DB pedals throwaways lotsa colors if that matter. Keep a few pairs on hand for kicks and never need em

I’ve been running xts and xtr for years and experienced similar issues. Just switched to look x tracks. Like them much better so far. My xtrs had so much play and were noisy.

the x tracks are dead silent and have a great solid platform. Their base model is prob similar to the 520s. Spd compatible too.
