Salsa Timberjack 20 vs 21

Thinking about building up a timberjack using all the parts from my pivot les. Plan to run it singlespeed. 29x2.25 100mm fork etc.

Will it feel slow compared to the les? I’m looking at the 20 model with “less slack” geo but might be wrong.

I can’t find another mainstream bike that is optimized for a 100mm XC fork and has a nice dropout system. I’ve been running the les for about 5 years and want to change it up.

Pretty sure Timberjack is optimized for a 120 fork. I’m sure you can run 100 but you will have steeper HT, ST and lower bottom bracket.

and chances are it will feel slow compared to your LES.

I think any bike you buy will be slower than a LES. I have my Timberjack built SS with an 80mm SID, carbon wheels, etc, it's just under 20 pounds. While it's certainly quick enough to get the job done, you can always feel it's a more playful geo than a race geo. Perfect for North Jersey Single Speeding but will feel like too much bike down your way.
