Went to manasquan rez yesturday cuase one was way too hot and two was to work out the kinks of my trek 6000. I had some problems with the gears skipping bad so i shortend the chain. My buddy was also with a new bike checking it out. It was crowded so trail etiquete was a must and everyone was real cool Except this one Lady. Overweight on her bike with her ipod in her ears oblivious to the world.
Coming up to one of the little bridges another biker coming opposite way stopped and waved us through first as were on the bride the lady comes flying out of nowhere bareling down the bridge, I hugged the wooded rail so tight to avoid crashing I ripped my arm up pretty good. I can Stand people who are unware of there surroundings and cause havoc to others. 😡

Sad but we had this last Tuesday of a bone head doing the same thing.
This will all ways be the case..

hold your ground. what better way to rant than to the person who hit you. this happened to me with the french canadiens up at kingdom. they didn't speak english and i kept calling them douche bags. they didn't get it.

Lol. Lucky for the hag it was me getting jacked up and not one of my kids or wife had they been there, then it would have gotten nasty 😀

She was deserving of getting a good buzz on the back tire. Of course you would have to apologize for not seeing her before you rear-ended her.

Wow Post revisited!! Today went for the 5 mile run at the res, Man what a bunch of Dbags again, older guys on kmart mountain bikes flying right up behind me with no etiquite. Is it too friggin hard to say passin on your left. Im conflicted i really want to clip the next J/o that does it, but I know its bad Karma.
O then there the boyfreind/girlfriend riders that take up the whole path riding side by side,,so cute.

Thats why I dont go to the resovoir anymore!

I hear ya,, the only problem is for my runs my house is sandwhiced between two county highways. Rather get hit by a bike then a car,lol

my rant: at Allaire yesterday morning my brother and I ran into two women runners who apparently think they own the trails.

we came upon them around a blind turn. we were NOT going fast, 10-11 mph max.. my brother and I instantly stopped and pulled our bikes off the trail into the weeds to let them pass.

and what did we get for our courtesy?

the first woman goes "Whoa, settle down!" and the second woman says "Runners have the right-of-way, you know"

what the f@#K? for a quick moment it was a bit of a "jerk store" moment, but I quickly realized that they were just unreasonable a-holes. so I said "settle down. what the hell are to talking about? go f@3k yourself". they heard me.

obviously they have a bug up their ass about mountain bikers. we could not have been MORE under control and more courteous. they deserved to get some lip from me.

I feel your pain. But to play devils advocate, chances are, if they are on "kmart mountain bikes" you are expecting a little much for them to have proper trail etiquette. It's really a shame, i know, but they obviously are not experienced riders. you do not have to pass a test or have a license to ride a bike.

Also, it's likely that the trail does not have a list of all the etiquette rules. it may have the Yield to sign, but that's probably about it.

Moral of the story, don't let these chumps ruin your nice day out. It is what it is man. Until they get you hurt, then all bets are off.

Out of curiosity when you saw them make their etiquette errors did you correct them so that they understand and do not make the same mistake next time?

One dude was twice but he was moving pretty fast. Other guy I remarked nice trail etiquite, I was ticked at that point. The other one was the boyfriend/girlfriend coming towards me when I had to move over to the brushline she said sorry, lol. your right it is what it is. I gotta get there earlier to avoid the masses.

Try Waway (if proximate) - I ride it 2 - 3x weekly and seldom see anyone. The only jerks I see on these trails are horseback riders. They just don't like bikers - more of a recreational prejudice than any real experience of harm suffered at the hands of bikers I reckon. I should be mean and ride with a rattling wheel - that will really spoke the horses. Kidding. Don't do that. The horses will think a rattlesnake is nearby.

I ran into two women at Allaire Saturday morning around 8ish. Maybe same women. One was runner stick thin, the other was heavier, like a non-runner. The thin one in front wouldnt move despite the other one saying 3 times that there was someone behind them. Thats just plain rude.

Rude you say! Next time you see them try being more polite as you run their asses over!

Name witheld

If other people bother you all so much you may want to consider moving out of the most densely populated state in the U.S............and trail etiquette at the reservoir, hahhaha too funny. I feel bad for the overwight woman who actually had the incentive to get out of the house and go do something 2 help herself. Try to side with compasion next time, she was prob nervous and embarassed to begin with.

that's them!!!!

now that I think about it, the one woman may have made both the "settle down" and "we have the right of way" comments - definately the skinny one in front. just a totally unreasonable a-hole with a hard-on for mountain bikers.
