I have noticed that the lights in my house dim for a second when my NEIGHBORS ac unit kicks on

Is that normal?

Why would that happen?

Is there any reason for me to be concerned about that?

LED lights? They show the smallest of power blips. You guys are on the same transformer.
Turn off your main breaker and see if your neighbor's a/c turns off 😉

Thanks for input folks. The lights that I noticed dimming are indeed LED lights (haven't noticed whether other lights dim)

I also see that both our feeds connect at the pole in the same place.

Since our meters are at the house (and beyond the point where our feeds meet at the poles) is it safe to assume I'm not paying to keep my neighbors cool?

you're good. but there are other signs.....

How old is your house ? 100A or 200A service panel ? I'd contact the electric utility and inquire about a trouble order being issed for the transformer on the pole. Go out to the pole and copy the numbers/letters on the metal tag and give that to the call taker. It could be an older transformer that has a few bad or weak pots. And accept that LED lighting will drive you crazy.

Or their AC unit is going to die soon.. listen to how it turns on.. if it's a deep lull then powers up, it may be their unit struggling.. if not, call electric co as mentioned above

Or go to their AC fuse panel and pull then turn their fuses.. problem solved until they flip the bill for AC tech to diagnose their fuse plug upside down.. then they can get the unit serviced..
