Quick, easy tire question

I got a flat on my Maxxis Ignitor 2.35 tires with a downill tube. Anyway, i checked over the tire and found that where the tube popped, there is a small gash (doesnt seem to be all the way through) in the tire. I really dont want it there as i do not want to have my tire weakened. Question: can i put a tube patch on the gash to hold it together and to protect the new tube in that area.

I forget what brand but there is a tubless tire patch kit out there that can fix that. Im sure someone on here will know the name of it... i think its made by Hutchinson

Well, all i have are these park tool clear patches and i need to get it ready for tomorrow, so will it hurt putting on the patch or will it be beneficial?

Patch should be fine. I have used the Park Tool patches before and they have held up fine. Have a good ride tomorrow, It's going be nice day out.

i too use regular patches on punctures/tears in the tire like that

I've used patch and even duct tape - it will fix anything!

A patch will be fine...but get a Park "Tire Boot" patch when you can. It's more heavy duty and will be a heck of alot stronger. Also consider upping your tire pressure if it's a sidewall tear until you make a more permanent repair. The patch will probably stay in place longer if there is less deflection of the sidewall.

A dollar works pretty good but a Jackson will work $20 times better.🙄

An empty Gu wrapper makes an excellent tire boot. I've used them on road tires to get me home. A mylar Powerbar wrapper works too.

I have used auto repair tire patch kits on my DH tires and tubes. Hit up Pep Boys for a cost effective fix.
