You know what sucks about this discussion? Not a single person here says anything positive about their own candidate. All we get is versions of, "Well yours sucks way worse than mine because of this."

This is the adult version of, "I know you are but what am I?"
Please read post #65. Cliff notes, Harris has spent her life in service of the public. Prosecutor, attorney general, senator and Vp.

So you and I are going to vote for the same person today. However, just because you drove a bus for 10 years doesn't mean you're a good bus driver. It just means you drove a bus.

I will go with this. As someone with a wife & a daughter, I will be voting for the candidate that stands for women's rights. I'll gladly pay more taxes so long as it allows the women in my life to live where they are seen as equals, not inferiors.

To add on to those points on personal service and character, she's received nothing but praise and admiration from her husband's ex wife(!) and stepchildren.

Also, having witnessed first hand extremely complicated fertility/pregnancy situations with friends and family, Harris's promises to protect reproductive rights in the wake of Dobbs is hugely important to me.

Since we started this thread (I think) discussing economic issues I think it's worth noting the number of endorsements from prominent economists as well as the details of her published economic plan:

There are also the endorsements of numerous Republicans and former Trump White House officials that give me confidence that she has the interests of all Americans in mind and not just the loudest elements of her base.

I'd also make the case for the support of Ukraine but think I'll leave it there.

Because the general population is dumb. Gaslighting is at an all time high right now.

Just curious - what is the apex of taxes to make this acceptable. Maybe provide us a percentage of income?

It always bothered me that men had no “ skin in the game” on the abortion topic. If men are going to force women carry a baby to term, maybe pass some laws that held men accountable. Women dies, man gets charged with manslaughter. Women has major medical issues with big medical bills, man pays.

IQ tests are scored on a bell curve. 100 point is average or the peak of of the curve. So 33% of a given population is below average, 33% is average and 33% is above average. That means roughly 1 in 3 people have double digit IQ’s.

Some of us don't belong to a political team.

"None of the above" isn't really an option. I don't like any of the choices for many reasons.

You don't have to vote.
I have the right to not vote and am aware of that.

I did in fact vote today and left many positions blank where I could not decide if one candidate was better than the other. As I don't have a party I don't really have party lines to go down.

Gets really hard to decide who to vote for especially in my current weird state where you vote for judges.

Poll Worker Report:

Arrived at 5:00 for a 6:00 start. By the book - everything ready at 5:45
I look outside, and 10 people are in line. Our location is in a walking district, which is so cool.
Coffee and vote, vote and coffee. let's go!

Doors open at 6:00 - our second district has to drive. They start hitting the polls at 7:00 when the HS kids are on the bus,
and it is non-stop until 6:00pm, and then slows until 8:00pm. Lock the door.

Everyone was civil, no electioneering.
The voting machine did its job - on review of the paper ballot, if someone thought it was wrong, we discarded and issued a new ballot (maybe 4x)
Mail in ballots who showed up to in-person were issued provisional ballots - about 20
People not on the polls who were sure they registered were also given provisional ballots, license checked, then voted.
The decision is made if needed. NJ does not have register-on-site on election day.

It was a good experience, and I watched America vote. Families of multiple generations came in together.
So many first time voters (we made sure they got a pic with the I Voted sticker.)
So many Americans representing the diverse cultures of the world.

I saw my vision of America vote today.

in our 2 districts (1 voting location) we had 800+ of 1900 registered voters cast in person, 340 voted early, and another 400 mail in requests.
I'm going to guess 70% voter participation. Hoping this is the highest in recent history....

The NJ process is solid - electronic with paper back-up. Any machine can be challenged, and some are "tested" against the paper.
There is an electronic transmission from each machine, followed-up with a USB drive delivered for confirmation. then there is a third "gross count" check of voters.

I believe in our numbers. Therefor I must support the results.
