Pogies - Recommendations

Looking to buy a pair of Pogies for my Fat Bike and looking to get some input on Brands, Prices, Quality, and where to buy?

I have set of scooter poggies on the cheap. Used them without gloves at below 20. Don't know what brand but were cheap.

Also I have gone gloveless skiing because of overheating. Hot hands is my problem.

I forget the prices but I have two different pair, I have a pair of moose mits which are great. And warm but they are floppy, they don't hold their position if you pull your hands out. That being said once you get used to them it's really not difficult to get you hands back in. The other pair are 45 nrth cobra fists, these are extremely warm but they are quite big. They are held on by bar end plugs and they will stay in position when you remove your hands and they also have a foam pad that goes around the bars that keeps cold and wind out wher the cables go into them. They also have vents on them in case you get too warm. I've used the 45 nrth when it was 14 deg. And my hands were very warm. Hope that helps

Mike,

I have a pair of the Specialized Insulator Mitts for my Fatboy. Stop by if you want to check them out. They are sold out till the end of the month, but based on the 10 day forecast you wont need them for a while.

I've used 45nrth and Specialized pogies. I like the Specialized ones better because they're light weight yet still work at over 40 below. They're just over $100. Worth every penny IMO.

Has anyone tried those rockbros ones? They're like 20 bucks but it looks like they're just neoprene. Looks like they're the knockoff version of BarMitts that also to appear to be just neoprene. Not sure how effective they would be without insulation but what do I know, I'm currently using snowboard gloves that are at least 25+ years old....

The advantage of going to a nicer Pogie like the Specialized or 45nrth is they bolt into the bar and have a lot more room around the controls. They also have small pockets on the inside to store a pair of gloves or food. 99% of the time you can wear no gloves inside which means you can actually work the shifters and brakes. Again, well worth it IMO.

I cheaped out and bought the Revelate Williwaw on clearence, rather than pony up for 45NRTH. They work great, have plenty of room, but lack the storage and vents of others Jim V mentioned. I will add that it's awesome to ride with summer gloves on when it's 10 out......makes it easy to take frozen beard selfies. My ONLY issue is that the bar plug likes to slip out. I guess I could always secure it with some velcro, or something like that, but I guess it isn't that big a problem as I haven't done anything about it yet.

Using moose-mitts. Perfectly happy. Pogies was the answer to my cold hands problems. I have not hit a temp in this area that they are not effective at. I no longer even think about cold hands.

I know Bar Mits offers road compatible. Pat uses Bar Mitts and is pretty happy with them. She has Reynards so the Pogies and Lake shoes were a must for her riding comfort in the colder weather.

Is there a road option for these? It seems suicidal.
My option is to ride a mountain bike, but I do believe Moose Mitts had a road version. On the MTB it really is easy to get in out. Like clipless (which I no longer use) it just takes a little getting used to. Actually much easier than clipless.

I have a set of Bar Mitts. I only use them when it is super cold and usually only need just a liner underneath. The biggest problem with them is when I wear them with my Gore Tool Jacket, my wrists get super sweaty.

I have them. Down to 20's, I can wear my normal full finger gloves and be OK. Cuts out the wind nicely and at the end of the ride my hands are sweaty. They basically feel like having your hands in your jkt pockets. I love them and have both flat bar and drop bar versions.
