Phone mirroring/Video in Auto

This makes me nervous - I just put my credit card information into a website, claiming to be in brooklyn, that supplies video interfaces for in-car entertainment systems. We'll see.

Anyway - I want to mirror my phone on the screen while driving. Carplay is just stupid, as i don't want siri reading my text messages to me, and apple maps suck. Once I get the wired interface up, and running, I'll probably add an apple tv, to go wireless - although this creates an audio issue - i think.

The unit will also support a front camera, and provides a general camera interface (up to 4) - I just picked up the front. I'll update on the company/device i chose when they arrive.

The goal here is to add an HDMI in port to the car. That opens the possibility for chromecast, firestick, etc...

Anyone ever do one of these installations?

Going into a 2018 GMC Sierra, 8" screen, IO6 infotainment system.

Just as an FYI.

39:3A-1. Television set with screen visible to driver of vehicle prohibited
It shall be unlawful to operate upon any public highway in this State a motor vehicle which is equipped with or in which is located a television set so placed that the viewing screen thereof is visible to the driver while operating such vehicle.

I have no idea as to the penalties but just be aware. I have no idea how the state would even define your project as this statute dates back to the 1950s. I think an officer would just write careless driving if he/she chose to get involved with this.

The goal is to mirror Waze or google maps. Internet porn is just a bonus.

Doubt I'd do anything to attract attention. It is using the factory screen.

The unit does enable video while moving from the camera system and DVD player. It is for off road use. Right.

Barely on topic, but I was in the car with my brother in law when he got pulled over at 2am, Corner of Church and 202. He had his phone mounted to the windshield playing Russel Peters because I hadn't seen him before. He's a marine, got a friendly warning and we were on our way.

No idea..does it play video while moving?
Tesla, no it does not do that and can not.
Hilarious hype rumors. Tesla is treated like a tech company but it's more an ELECTRIC car company still and has the only worthy ELECTRIC cars. They have some really nice features that are tech oriented that other car companies may have or come close to. The drive is absolutely fantastic but it's still just a people mover. Until they achieve full autonomous then the world will implode. I love Teslas!

On the contrary, you can just buy a Tesla and just autopilot and stream. Bonus, it runs google maps!

So when are the cops going to start writing all the New York "T C" and "W C" and NJ "0" plates tickets for drivers that have GPS systems practically in front of their faces or are using their phones looking for new assignments from their bases?

At least those taxi's have drivers that jumped through hoops to have proper insurance and licenses to operate in the state. (sarcasm)

Um, I'm not the spokesman for anyone but myself. And barely even that.
