Pedal threads are standard. You can pick whatever you want and slap em on. If they are clippless, they come with the proper clip to attach to a cycling shoe.

dual purpose pedals

Yama,

I'm not a big fan of the dual purpose pedals. They are not great clipless pedals (heavy and one sided) and they are not good platforms (too small of a platform).

If you are new to clipless... I'd suggest SPD pedals since they allow you to adjust the "hold". In reality, this means very little on release but makes a beginner feel better and makes it easier to "snap" in. If you are not new to clipless, I like eggbeaters (basic ones), they do not weigh much, four sides to clip in, most styles are rebuildable, and they never clog with mud or snow (like most other clipless pedals).

Cheers,

I've had mine for over 3 years and put them through EVERYTHING. I should take a picture, I'm not sure they even say Shimano on the side of them anymore. They are so banged up.

They have never let me down. I can promise you that the SPD pedals will not let you down either. Not to mention the SPD's I had were hand me downs, who knows how long the pedals were on Jasons bike before I got them.

So lets say 5 years and nothing has been replaced on these.

I think the 520 only come in one size (9/16). pretty sure that is the standard for mountain bikes. someone correct me I am wrong.
