You'll need to know thread pitch and actual axle length, not the hub width. Will vary by frames.

I’ve never had to buy a one off axle. The old stock frame set didn’t come with one. Thanks ya’ll. Glad I asked and didn’t just buy one!

So using the Robert axle for trainer I got 174mm x 1.75 thread

For the Bob trailer it said 174mm to 180mm

So if I can’t find 174 can I go a few mm shorter or longer? I think shorter but I’m confused by the 174 to 180.

generally i would say buy the closest one you can find that is longer than what you call for, every bike i own the axle can thread all the way thru and i would want to ensure full thread engagement.

That bolt is about as specific as your 142mm axle.

You're starting to sound like the customers who came in and said they wanted a spoke and seat post for a 26" bike.

Hold the wedge in line with the stem, and get a measurement from the top where the bolt head rests, to the bottom of the wedge. That looks like a standard M8, which I should have.

You can porch pickup it (Colts Neck or Keansburg), or I can pass it along.
