Paulinskill Trail

Paulinskill trail is a "rails to trails" type ride. There are actually a few ups and downs, mostly near road crossings. The surrounding area is quite pretty and the section we visited had a few places where there were large rocks/cliffs on either side. There are also a few places where there are short side trails running along the main trail just to spice it up a bit.

We started in a lot located on Warbasse Junction Rd.

We had a fabulous time. Certainly one of the prettiest rails to trails we have been on SO FAR. A few places were very wet and our guides for the day said those places are usually always wet so I dont know how this trail would be for winter riding.

Here ya go (sorry I am not very good at video editing)

It is a really beautiful trail. I live in Portland Pa just across the river from its western end in Columbia. Great trail for the family or those looking to hammer out some mtb miles. Link it with the Sussex Branch for 40+ off road miles or an 80 mile out and back. Lots of horse traffic on the western side so be careful when approaching or passing.

You were up in my neck of the woods! How far did you go? I have taken it from Warbasse to Blairstown before I ran out of spare tubes and patches. Next time I will take a tubeless setup! See any bears?

Yeah, the Paulinskill and Sussex rail trails are just great.
And if you roll the Sussex through Kittatinny Valley SP, you can add some singletrack to the mix.
And the Millside cafe in Lafayette is a great place for a lunch break.
Huge samiches.

haha wow some how missed you posting this video! we had a blast with you guys! We will deff need to do this ride again when we have more time and a storm not coming in lol. I will share this video with Lindsey and we will have to figure out another time to ride 🙂

We went to the playground, not sure what its called but from Warbasse to playground and back was 17 miles... so not even half way lol but this was the sunday before sandy and we had a late start and had to end it early. I would love to ride it to blairstown one day just need a few more hours. We also did not see any bears... just a few horses wondering the woods.

Is it ridable on a road bike?

for the most part yes. its pretty much flat dirt, your normal little rocks and roots here and there, some mud after rain, hills are short / tiny and not rocky 99% of time.I have seen a old guy ride it on a old road bike in sandals. Im sure it would just come down to your comfort level on skinny tires and no suspension for the paulinskill trail is about 25 miles long from warbasse to blairstown.

**edit** after posting that i remembered you ride a full rigid on all types of trails... so a few pebbles wont be a problem for you lol

I would not recommend it on a road bike with typical road tires. I have used my cx bike with knobby clinchers and still got multiple flats.

Good to know...

guess, I'll have a better chance with my road bike than CX bike since the road bike has Conti Gran Prix 4-Seasons

I think it would be fine on a cx bike, I probably just had bad luck that day.

what gave you all those flats?? thorns , rocks, sticks? I personally have never had a problem, but would be good to know what to look out for :hmmm:

At least one was a pinch flat in a gravelly section, another was probably glass near rt106. Not sure what caused the others, it was back in June. Once I was down to my last patch I turned around. I made it from Lafayette to Blairstown and back. My plan was to go all the way to the Delware R. Otherwise it was a gorgeous ride. A few riders on horses, one bear.
