Park Rat Thread

Taking my son for his first time this week. Total cost with lift and bike rental was $235 🤬 And I thought snowboarding was expensive! We don’t have room or the money for more bikes so renting is our only option. Not sure how often we’ll be able to go if he really likes it. 😕
Look for a used bike at the end of the season. I sold my sons devinci wilson in the spring for 900 i think. Prices have been high but if he's really into it you get a used one and it becomes his early Xmas present. The season pass is an investment in time together. 4th year going with my boy now and although I can no longer hang with him, we love our creek trips.

My friend has a 2014 GT fury size small that he is looking to sell. could be a good option as opposed to renting all the time

Thats amazing that you did fort hill @Ryan.P . Seriously impressive.

here's my meager video from Windham this weekend:

Nice! I was up there the week prior and had a blast. The new blue tech trail off Wilderness roll was a lot of fun.

Had a little code brown moment on WR when i came down off the backside off a pretty big booter towards the bottom and spotted 2 fawns running up out of the bush. Fortunately they did a hasty about-face but not after scaring the shite of me first. 🤣

You guys missed the part about having absolutely no room for more bikes. My wife would divorce me. That may complicate my riding a bit. 😛

Same bike. I already gave her an ear full for not telling me she had it. It’s just been sitting in a garage.
I am a large so less tempting us I never get to Creek but man if my wife wouldn't murder me or I had a spot to hide it might pull the trigger.

My son is trying to get to creek this week but I can't take him til the weekend. Anyone going to creek daytime or after work from the bergen county area tomorrow Thursday or friday?Friday? Happy to pick up lunch or gas.

Looks like we have another park rat in the group! My 13 year old son had a blast today. First time ever on a DH bike and taking a lift. We finished the day with two runs on Tempest. Said that was his favorite trail. 🧡

My son spent all last week at highland for their AYR summer camp. Loved it. Its not cheap and you have to sign up in December when it first opens, but he loved it and clearly his skills ballooned. I dropped him off at creek today (I'm just too tired after 11 hours of driving yesterday to ride park) and he calls me after one hour: "Dad I did phantom drop. Also I can now clear ever single jump on upper and lower dominion. Also I did crape chute and tempest. It's all easy for me now."

If that doesn't sell you on the highland camp for your kid I don't know what would.
That's awesome... I was up there this week with @jdog @ArmyOfNone and a few others who I'm not sure are on the board... Our kids did the summer ride 3 day camp and they loved it. My 8 yr old couldn't wait to show me all the things he learned (we're now up at kingdom). But all the kids getting to ride together for a few days.... Us dads getting to ride Highland for a few days... That was pretty priceless. Highland was super fun

Thats great! I would love to do that kind of a trip. My son did the week-long camp and it was like 8 hrs a day for 6 days. Came back a machine. Said he likes highland much more than creek lol.
