Opinion: Crack or Scratch?

Does the cold weather really make Carbon Fiber parts brittle? If so why would they make fat bikes out of Carbon knowing that they'll probably be ridden in snow?

Soooo you're saying it's ok?

Scratch, but I'm more concerned with your brake adjuster barrel being out all the way.

I know it's out pretty far, although there is some slack left in it. The brakes are BB7s so I just have to adjust the pads a few clicks to get everything back to where it should be.

While I agree with everyone's assessment that it is just a scratch, I removed the bar to give it a good inspection and found this guy. Now I realize that I probably created this one by over-tightening (I know, I know, I need a torque wrench) but this one looks a bit meaner and I figure I'll just cut my losses with this $20 bar and go back to my alloy's for now. BTW what is the stuff they put on the mounting section that roughs it up for grip? Is it a like a wrap or do they scuff up the actual CF?

I Think it's a texture they have built into the mold, that actually leaves that pattern on the top layer of resin in the CF, but different companies may do it different ways.
