As long as we don't have to ride along side cars for very long, its all good

It's up 2 you there would be a 206 crossing and idk if that's a good idea

is high point even worth the ride single track has it ranked low
just slogging miles. One thing about winter riding is to sustain an effort without sweating too much. This is where you clothing selection will change as you quickly find out you've over dressed, and also realize that stopping and chatting is not the best choice in single digits. So, just ride slowly and chat along the way.

rookie mistake, lock your fork out before the ride and don't use it, they weren't designed for those temps and most aren't. I'm on full rigid most of the winter.

Breaks are done at the coffee shop and there are plenty.

Let's do Columbia to Nassau this weekend. Leaves are still near peak at the moment
I am so in!
Parking at Max's house?
HT or CX?

JimV was going to climb it over 20 times to complete the Mt Everest challenge, you bitching about doing it just once?
JimV does not equal PaulH… not even close!
JimV would be offended that you put me in the same sentence with him in terms of cycling ability.

you're not even in the same stratosphere. That goes into Black River preserve which gets to Patriots Path not Columbia. I've been trying to figure out some good loops away from cars and as much on rail/gravel trails the past few years. We could start in Long Valley or Califon then head towards High Bridge where we can connect to Nassau for a 30 min loop before heading back north.

ride what you brung, Sunday or Saturday? We can do 15 or 20 miles from there depending on how much time we want to spend in Nassau.
If we start at Long Valley, it will be 20 miles out and back alone.
Thinking to park at the Califon Train station which is actually a museum not real station

Bear Mt is death and I imagine High Pt is death as well.
NYC ride is a mellow and easy ride. Done this 3 times with MTBNJ crew and couple of times with Liong.
Park by the GW bridge early in the morning... thinking like 7AM to ensure free parking.

But I would prefer still prefer to stay away from cars and pedestrians

Paul,,,let’s get OOS to do this

Most city folks went over GW then took river side road then 9W bicycle route until piermont, from here follow closely Hudson River there’s gravel road path for biking and hiking right off shore follow it then hit tallman park then Tor park (or skip that) then go back down gravel roads again towards Nyack you can choose to continue to Bear Mountain or Turn around go back same way again

Or keep going,if Mario Cuomo bridge (formerly Tappan Zee) already open that would be great but not yet open,..hopefully soon then we are all will be having a blast

So continue to bear mountain bridge crossing to other side then head down towards OCA (old Croton Aqueduct) trail take this to go back fort lee

Roughly about 80-90 miles maybe more assuming starting from Fort lee
I be gladly lead or sweep
This works better if you ride cyclocross or gravel grinder

There’s maybe 20miles that this route we have to rode on the roads/9W and after crossing BM bridge too,so get yourself comfortable riding o roads first

Weekend is way to go,as early as possible to avoid traffic

Looks like there is a small parking lot on Long Valley as well?

If we are going to ride Nassau, will take HT but that might be stretching it.
I can only do Sunday
Sunday for me too
