OOS MOGA

He wanted in, @Mahnken have you ridden with OOS? Maybe you created a second acct and just trying to Jedi trick us
I haven't. Would like to, but you guys all live way North of me. Might be able to do the sourlands on the 3rd of I can get a babysitter. That's only 1 hour and 16 minutes from me. Or maybe a six mile ride, that's even closer at 1 hour 11 minutes. Everything else is pretty far from me. No second account, just far away from most of the people on the forum. Isolated down here in South Jersey.

We tried an alternative thread to clarify things but that went to heck in a hand basket so quick it would make your head spin! lol

It’s actually 1 giant disorganized cluster fluffer of a conversation. It may seem like 100 but just like a train wreck being 1 wreck with a 100 cars this is just 1 giant conversation lol
This is sooooo complicated 😕😱😵

We hit Allaire every chance we can if that helps. This winter it's a good fallback when the rocks up north get nasty.

Wont be too long

Jeez, do any of you guys ride in the cold?

I’ve ridden in temps well below zero fairly often over the last few years. Stop overthinking it.

Keep the top of your head and ears covered and out of the wind. When it’s below 20 i wear a snowboard helmet with a vent than can be opened for temp control and a pair of goggles.

Good pair of boots, sized up! Cycling or otherwise, doesn’t matter if you run flats..... which I do on “The Snow Dog” (Mukluk). They can’t be tight or you will be sorry. If it’s below zero, reflective insoles are the shit!

Wool socks merino if you have them, they do not need to be super thick. Mine are summer weight and it’s fine.

Thermal running tights over bibs are good enough though zero for the bottom half.

Up top, base layer, quality fleece, a buff and windbreaker with some way to ventilate is really all you need.

Gloves is the hard part. Like shoes, tight is bad. Mittens are warmer, split works well too. If you go bar-mits, gloves that have an inner thin glove with a thicker overglove works well. When you start to get warm, strip off the outer glove and just wear the liner. Trust me.

No cotton, ever!!!!!!! You have been warned.

@Juggernaut I normally don't ride in the cold days. Is what you say gospel if so I will abide cause I wanna stay in shape and prepare for short track that just so happens to occur in the cold weather. Thanks !

I’ve done 2.5 hour rides in -10 before factoring wind chill and was toasty for all but the first 5-10 min in that setup. If you’re not cold at the start you’re gonna sweat to death halfway through.

The worst part of the ride is the time between getting out of the car and actually getting on the bike.
