So the roof finally let go on my garage, I'm out of commission for a bit until I complete replacing it. Materials will be there tomorrow and my boss gave me off the next two days so I can fix it.

Wonder if I can put it on Strava? Gotta be about the equivalent of a century ride right?

No, at least not most of it. A small section failed but it took out half of the drywall inside the building when it did. I was hoping to put it off until fall but no such luck.

why is that difficult? Is just telling you exactly what you're getting:

- size of the shoulder (d in the picture)
- thread size (Mx)
- size of the correct Allen key to use with it (J in the picture)

i.e. 8 (M6) 4mm --> d=8mm, thread = M6 and J=4mm

because M means it's a thread. If it isn't followed by a specific pitch it means it's coarse (go by the table) otherwise the pitch is whatever it is specified.

Shoulder screw probably won't fit as usually a regular screw is used and a little play is needed for proper alignment. You may want to look for a partially threaded screw instead.
