One bike, a thousand hopes: Mauro Talini's extraodinary ride across America

Mauro Talini 7 months and a bicycle to travel the world from South to North to raise awareness on diabetes: this is the challenge that Mauro Talini is ready to take over. Starting on 30 December, Mauro will travel the 25,000 km separating Ushuaïa from Alaska with his bike and one message: diabetes no limits.

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11, Mauro cultivates his passion for cycling since 2001. Since 2003, he uses this passion to raise awareness on diabetes going on solo cycling trips first in Italy, then Europe and eventually around the world.

As part of his project "Una Bici, Mille Speranze" (One bike, A Thousand Hopes), Mauro has now decided to travel the Americas from Ushuaïa to Alaska by bike. By taking over this challenge, Mauro hopes to make people realise that it is possible to achieve anything even if you live with diabetes and show that it is possible to manage this condition that still remains a mystery to so many people. Most importantly, the cyclist's aim is to raise funds for educationnal projects for children in need in Latin America. Indeed, Mauro wants to prove it is possible to come together and join forces to fight poverty and precarious health conditions.

ANIAD (Associazione Nazionale Italiana Atleti Diabetici - the Italian National Association of Athletes with Diabetes) and Diabete Italia are supporting Mauro's bike ride across the Americas. wow it is hard to see someone over come so much, do what he loves and end so violently.

i bet he touched and inspired many which is more then most can say.

RIP

What a shame. Diabetes is such a terrible disease. Two of my uncles have type I, and I have seen first hand how badly it effects your health/life.
