Oil Slick

This guy just built an entire chain out of Sram OIL SLICK master links! Wasn't even that heavy apparently. Lightweight and sassy, probably has Vreeland creaming his chamois just thinking about it. 🤣

why not just buy the chain?

I believe the point was to see if a chain made from as many master links (or in this case SRAM PowerLocks) as possible joining the inner links from a regular chain, would be as quiet and shift the same as a standard chain with a single master link.

I think Seth used the SRAM PowerLocks in oil slick was because that got a bunch of them from SRAM. The oil slick color was not relevant to Seth's objective, and his chain is 1/2 rainbow, 1/2 silver.

I believe some people have too much free time on their hands. Some spend too much time online and get sucked into conspiracy theories. Others build chains out of Powerlocks.

You got that right!

I think Seth said it took an hour or more to remove all the links lucky he was using a shop tool I believe and not a chain breaker on a multi-toool. I think he underestimated how much effort it would take.

You can buy a pneumatic chain tool from Shimano. It's as expensive/unwieldy as it sounds, but it would be a hell of a lot better than turning a handle for 1 hour.

Technically, it's only meant to peen over the factory links, but you could remove that part/snug it up the air chisel.

He busted his ankle and can't ride or build trails for a long time so he has a lot of time on his hands. He's gotta find material for his channel so why not?

I know someone who works at Rock Shox that told his cousin, who is friends with my neighbor, that @jimvreeland is being paid to promote the oil slick colors. SRAM is having trouble unloading all 2019-2020 components in oil slick.

You’re all being manipulated.

That's fake news. It's all on backorder.

As a Sponsored Athlete, my paycheck is directly related to the amount of Oil Slick I sell.
