so my daughter is my official gear repairer...she's an excellent seamstress thanks to years in the theater/dance company costume shops...

anyway, while she's away at college, i needed to do some repair myself...

i dug deep into the memory bank of my 8th grade home ec class at fords middle school, and watched this super helpful video and did a seam repair on my 45NRTH Naughtvind Pants...the arse flap was...flapping! i think i did ok...

tough week for me and 45NRTH gear unfortunately...

I suck at it. Better than tossing out an otherwise good shirt.
Stitched up these holders to stick in gloves for hand warmer. Hardest part was getting my moms sewing machine set up for the zig zag. Found the manual and farted around with it for a while.

Use T-pins to hold your shit together while working. 1 T-pin every 5-10 stitches.

Embroidery hoops make great holders for stitching a tear in anything, but knit stuff in particular.

A tiny drop of superglue on the tied off stitch keeps it from ever coming undone...but can chafe if it rests against skin.

Silk thread is marginally more expensive/isn't available in quite as large a range of colors, but is WAY easier to handstitch with, because it doesn't bind quite as easily. Less durable, though.

Get a Speedy Stitcher for larger work. It's made for canvas/leather/etc, but takes a normal-sized sewing machine needle (though you'll need theirs/to special order larger sizes for leather/canvas). Way back in the olden days, there were simpler, smaller versions that were expressly made for small repair work with normal weight threads.

I had a zipper break on my pedal industry bag. They said they’ll fix it but I need to send it back. Kind of annoying for a $100 bag.
Ill have to take it to a local tailor to see if they can fix it.
