holy crap. this is at least 30 inches wide.

i swear, they are just using a snow blower and a shovel. no dynamite necessary. this is looking down from the first "climb" after the fire road climb past the start. EXCITED YET?

this race is going to be completely bananas and absolutely one that you do not want to miss. people will be talking about this race across the internet.

you want to do this race.

you need to do this race.

if you do no other races this year, make it this one.

the level of fun is going to be so high that even gordon will smile.

'None shall pass.'

Sport folks better know where the double track passing zone is...

I will need to be lapped at least once by most folks and after months of sitting around my ass is wider than that trail.

It will be crazy out there.

didn't want to race the same course? don't blame ya.

heres a new trail.

So me Jake, Kirt, and Norm got there at ~9, mitch a little later. We basically got my snowblower around 90% of the course before I broke it. Which mean the min width is 26", which hey...thats 8" wider than single track is supposed to be according to the IMBA manual. :) I was actually in the process of trimming the sides of the cut to make it wider when I picked up a coat hanger that was buried in the snow....it got wrapped around the driveshaft and bent it up a bit. Fixed that, but then I ran out of shear pins :)

2nd shift is there now continuing the battle against this frozen menace.

Can someone in the know please confirm the start times for the various classes for Race #2? I imagine that people who did not race #1 week may need the same clarification.

Race #2 indicates Note 1: For this race only, class start times are swapped!

However the details for weeks 1 & 2 indicate:
"Open men & Fat Bikes will go as a single class at 9:00. The sport and women will go together at 10:00."

Based on this, it seems to me that for Race # 2 ONLY, the Open men & Fat Bikes will switch to 10:00am, and Sport and Women will go together at 9:00am. Thanks!

Norm how are conditions looking? expecting hard frozen earth or mucky sloppy fun with a little higher temps?

Hard frozen earth, and some ice from the melt yesterday. We've got something like 10 bags of sand to dump on the course to help traction. We'll also be out on the course tomorrow morning from 7-9 chopping up any especially slick areas.

It really didn't get warm enough up there today to melt much of anything. And the sun wasn't out for long. It'll be rock solid for the most part.

Look forward to seeing everyone. Reg numbers are great considering there's almost 2 feet in spots up there.
