Moving to NJ from Montana

Got in on Friday. We are now staying at the extended stay hotel on 17 in Ramsey and looking at places to live. We are looking at rentals listed by Coldwell Bankers as the fees will be payed for us. There are a few in Hillsdale and Waldwick that look pretty nice. We haven't been inside any of them yet, that will happen next week. Any comments on those two areas?

It's so much greener here than in Montana! We are going to go for a hike at Ringwood today and maybe a swim if it is hot enough. Our bikes won't be arriving for a week or two with the rest of our stuff, I look forward to meeting some of you guys once we are settled in!

welcome to nj. both towns are nice. I'll pick waldwick just because it's more covenient.

Ridgewood

Hello everyone,

We are now somewhat settled in our rental in Ridgewood. We like the area a lot! I got out on 1 short ride so far, up cannonball from the soccer fields to the lake and back. Fun stuff! The riding in Montana is generally very steep and can get pretty rocky, but I can see that the rockiness here is a whole other ballgame after navigating the couple of severe rock gardens on the cannonball.

I don't start work till the 1st (pipelineortho.com), anyone want to do some riding next week? I'd be up for just about anything difficulty wise, although I am limited to the time between when I drop the misses off at work and pick her up, about 8:30am-3:30pm. I'm no slouch on the technical stuff, although I haven't been riding much the last month so I'm not in the greatest fitness. It does help though that I lived at 5,000' in Montana before coming out here. . .

Anyone else live in Ridgewood?

Welcome to Jersey and enjoy Cannonball! I ride either early weekend mornings (6AMish) or weeknights after work (6:30ish). If you go alone you will run into others 50% of the time.

Welcome to NJ ! Sweet bike by the way $$$ , i used to own a pizzeria in Glen Rock which is next to Ridgewood , great area and downtown area has many rests, bars , stores , etc to keep you busy .

Nice! I was laughing when I drove through Glen Rock and saw the giant rock in the middle of the town.

Yeah, my previous job was as a design engineer for a sporting goods company, so my going away present to myself was to take advantage of all the pro/industry deals I could and build a new ride.
