Mountain Man Biathlon - 2009

$65 isn't bad considering they give you a sweatshirt (whether you want it or not) and food, prizes, etc.

Can anyone figure this out?

Entry Fee till 9/25 (with sweat shirt) $65.00
Entry Fee 9/11-10/24 or closed out (with sweat shirt) $81.00

it's either $65 or 81 between 9/111 and 9/25.

It remember it being weird last year as well, it was a different cost with or without sweatshirt. I figured screw the sweatshirt for the extra 25$ or whatever it was and registered at the basic cost. Then I got there and they said anyone that prereg gets a sweatshirt😕

that explains why I never got a sweatshirt! I registered day of and they ran out...now I know why. damn. they were nice too!

I did the race last year as my first biathlon, and had a great time. I just registered and looking forward to place better than my last year's results.

I've never done a biathlon before and this seems like a pretty nice event. Do most people change into clipless shoes or do they put on flat pedals and just go in their running shoes?
Also, the description says 2 miles running - 11 miles biking - 2 miles running. So we run, get on the bike, and run again 😕

A lot of people run flats, but then again a lot of people just bike on flats anyway. the top finishers will take the 30 seconds to change into clipless since they'll more than make up for that on the ride (Lewis Morris is a pretty fast park).

And yep, run/bike/run. It's a fun and casual race.

Seems like a cool event, but $81? Nearly a month before the event? It's a shame. I understand the fees associated with running things properly and I'm not averse to spending some money on a good event, but that's just too darned much for such a short race.

I thought about it when it was $65, but $81, no way! i'll come and help luke out with the pictures.

$75 w/ the sweatshirt 'til 10/24 or they run out
$55 w/o the sweatshirt

think i'm gonna register. why not? i could always use a new sweatshirt.

btw, mtbnj.com local celeb ellen serutto won this thing in 2007.

really the only thing stopping me now is the $75 reg fee. considering the SS-a-poolaza was hands down the best event i ever did and was like $35, it's a tough one.

they dropped the price five bucks? weird.

Maybe they weren't getting enough entrants? Regardless, at $55, I'm in.

The winning time from 2007 is listed as a 1:13. Are the distances the same/accurate? From the Lewis Morris H2H race, the fastest laptimes were ~30 minutes over 6 miles, which would give approx 55 minutes for the 11 mile bike. So the winning guy did 4 miles of trail running in 18 minutes?
