Motorcycles.... where do i start?

It will certainly give you some motivation to get things done if you've got a shiny bike in the garage. Dunno your layout, but riding around a parking lot or such is good practice. I'm not sure if you can register and insure it without a motorcycle endorsement? Magic 8 ball says maybe.

Link to said bike?
I live in a condo with a slight slope so tons of space.... only thing... the balls and chains... she did say at one pt that she will kill me if I buy a bike. But... what she doesn't know....

Looked up a uhaul trailer.... pretty cheap

Many empty parking lots along Valley rd extension for practice. I'll be more than happy to help you out anyway I can.

I don't mean to be Nancy Negative but the fork and triple clamp replacement is a huge red flag.
This one is similar in price (smaller CC tho) and looks well loved?

Thoughts on this?
I would. Some of my trackday friends are eyeballing them already. Yeah, build quality may one day be an issue but you're comparing a new bike with a warranty to a 7 year old deal with a questionable history. Reviews are good too. If it's in the budget and fits you okay it's a cool little bike. Maybe I'll go with you and see if we can get a deal on two!

Yeah man... if they let me buy without a license tho... lol

Might be different now, but I bought my first motorcycle with a permit. And because I bought a bike with them, the dealership lent me a crappy little dirt bike to take the road test with, lol.

I have so many wise ass comments about this statement.
Bring em. I rode and commuted in NJ for years on a cbr1000rr and some other bikes. The only horn a motorcycle has is a loud exhaust and hitting the rev limiter. This isn't a New Jersey sucks post but this is a New Jersey drivers suck post.

I'm going to add another endorsement for taking an MSF or similar rider education course. I did, almost 25 years ago when it was free, but I'd gladly pay a reasonable amount for it. I grew up riding ATCs (yes, ATCs, 3 wheels) and dirt bikes. The bike handling skills carry over from dirt riding and cycling, but the course will give valuable insight into proactively handling the traffic around you. Which is a huge deal on motorcycles, especially in NJ.

I spent about a decade moto-commuting from Newton to Hackettstown and later Mt Arlington any day there wasn't ice on the roads. When my company moved to a building that required an unprotected left turn from Rt 206 right after a traffic light to get into the office, I pretty much stopped after several close calls with almost becoming a hood ornament.

Start with small, light, durable, and not overpowered. Dual Sports are ideal for getting started. The CBR500R would be good, just be prepared to deal with fairing rash.

So a 5yr old bike is only a couples of hundred less than new? How does that work? That's nuts.

Used motorcycles went through the same crazy pricing as used bicycles so you're seeing that effect. There's a '22 Ninja 400 in Keyport with a $5000 ask and a '21 w/ABS in Neptune with a $4900 ask.

Another thing to consider is that buying a motorcycle at most of the dealerships I've experienced is the worst, with all kinds of bullsh*t fees so the price you're comparing to (MSRP) is not the true point of comparison. Hanover quoted me $7500 OTD on a $5400 Husqvarna a couple years ago. Motorcycle Mall (after extensive pulling of teeth just to get a number) came back with $7800. The only straight-up place I've seen is Central Jersey in Eatontown where the price is $X + tax + tags. He only sells Husqvarna though.
