Mother's Day Ideas - HELP!

Mostly outdoors?
Was thinking Longwood gardens

Longwood gardens is always a hit. Was just there recently and was great for everyone. I was stuck on a gift last year and ended up buying a helicopter tour of NJ/PA River valley for a mother's day gift. It was cheaper than a dinner out and made for a great memory. I used Platinum Helicopters out of Princeton. We didn't go on mother's day but still made for a good one. Good luck.

NY Botanical garden though I would bet their restaurant is prolly booked. Maybe do the Zoo also as they are next door per say. I am sure you can find a good Columbian restaurant.
The Georgia O'Keefe show is currently at the NYBG, walking distance is a PiyoPiyo, same owners as the popular Peruvian joint near the Lincoln.

Okay, I'm sure the food you suggest is good, but for me, any trip to the NYBG or the Zoo requires street clams at Cosenza's, followed by a pie at Zero Otto Nove. Or Roberto's for a special occasion (get the tinfoil pasta special- whatever it is).

Or you could just hit Other Half.

Victory was supplying a great summer/slightly sour beer there a few years back - looks like they have a wheat series now.
The fountains were being rebuilt, so there is def a reason to go back.

My wife is a decent co-pilot - and has become proficient with the maps. For anyone that hasn't been up in a helicopter or small plane going low
and slow, i'd highly recommend it. Go early in the day for the smoothest air. There is a corridor up the hudson river from the verrazano to the GW
below 1200' - haven't done it yet. ballooning is fun too. Hopefully the wind will be blowing west, cause ya got to be on the ground before rt 287 (roughly)

this would be a big win - mid-day while the ribs are doing their thing.

So we were going to do a bike ride on the D&R, then play golf (W1f3. son (15yo), me)

At 55F and raining, this does not seem like the type of activity which would be memorable in a good way.
(@Norm - am i mixing verb tense there?)

Ideas?

Art is good, gardens are good, small excellent food is good (no brunch-a-thons)
NYC is fine, Philly, points between.

Pro tip for the future - your wife isn't your mother. Your son is old enough now to plan something on his own (just make sure he plans something!). Wifey will better appreciate her son doing this rather than you. Although it is funny how moms seem to take this day more seriously. For dad's day, all I want is to be left alone to do whatever I want - like a long bike ride, fishing, etc.

he did ok, went with flowers for outdoors to attract hummingbirds, and is supposed to do some planting later today.

going with the golf simulator at 1:00 at neshanic valley.
think i'm ok with organizing smoked meat, bike ride, and golf for mother's day.....perhaps i'll promote myself to director, and limo driver next year.
he can do the rest.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!

This. I'm on dad duty just as much as my wife is on mom duty. I love my family to pieces, but my bday and Fathers day are all Me. Bike ride, motorcycle ride, or just plain quiet time and I'm all good.

Ps, happy mothers day to all the moms out there in MTBNJ land!

This is why my wife is home alone and all depressed. At 17 this is the first year my son is not home on Mother's Day. He's working open to close at a restaurant, being responsible. It's killing her. I'd be happy to left alone on Father's Day, but it never happens.
