Meadowlands riding

Does anyone know if there is riding in the Meadowlands? I know there is a group that kayaks there. I don't even know if there is trails, guessing there must be something.

Meadowlands is Big Place

Meadowlands is a Big Place. I think they may have MTB near New Jersey Meadowlands Commission but some one posted there's wild dogs there.

Last year I biked at Red Road, I think kids moto and bmx there. It floods a lot, but supposed to be better in the winter months

2 miles out and back, other side of 95 is a gas line, they don't want you there

I heard about the dogs, no doubt they are there, I was planning on going hot anyway so they wouldn't be an issue. I'm going to GE it and try to match your track with other trails. Something to do as the weather turns bad.

I wonder how difficult it would be to get to the top of the Prudential rock. You don't see a lot of new graffiti up there so it must be pretty locked up.

I have seen quads and dirt bikes in and around the landfills there.

On my train commute home, I've seen quads south side of Rte 3 near Secaucus stopped by an expedition type truck with cherries on top. Illegal I'm sure, but perhaps they were on a section of private land that gets patrolled.

Check out the area due south of the Prudential rock on a map, there are a couple of spots that are totally spiderwebbed with trails. The rock itself looks like its part of Laurel Hill Park. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_Hill

It would be cool to ride the Pulaski Skyway before they tear it down. I love that bridge/monster.

They won't tear it down until scrap prices go high again...

In 2007, NJDOT Commissioner Kris Kolluri announced long-range plans to replace the existing Pulaski Skyway with a replacement structure. In a press interview, Kolluri said motorists would get "a new structure capable of handling the volume of traffic in a safe and efficient manner," and that new design features would "reflect the needs of the 21st century." Although the state allocated $135 million in its 2011 budget for the project, whose cost is projected to exceed $1 billion, it hopes to get much of the project funded by the Federal government.

when i had a dirtbike i used to go there a bunch...the "trails" are constantly changing, unless you stick to the rail beds. but its just flat and straight alot...good for a dirtbike....not great for a mtb

There is a realy good place to ride which has alot of big jumps and berms directly across the vince lombardi service area. Dont try driving in off the turnpike because the cops will bust your chops. I got kicked out of there a few years ago while running my R/C nitro trucks but only because my Blazer was in there. The cop told me to drive around and go in through West Side Ave. He had no problem with that. You have to ride in.Some one actually stole a Back Hoe and left it there and they made amazing trails but there more geared towards motorcross. If someone does go there just ride away near the turnpike and you should be o.k. There is also trails south of route 495 but it looks like a small motorcross track as well and then you have the trails or whats left of them were they were building the EnCap project which is near Midevil times and also by the Secaucus rail station. Most of the trails if not all in the meadowlands are either motorcross track or double track/dirt roads. also if you ride by Vince Lombardi wear clothes that you dont care to much for, for some reason that dirt/mud leaves stains no matter how much you wash them.

For those who want to go to Snake Hill, you can park ,and take a dirt road along the river then go under the turnpike and into the trails by the Rail station, but its basically dirt roads. I have never had a problem with dogs at any place in the meadowlands, but I have seen them .There is also a free boat ramp there for boats under 23 feet as well as Kayak rentals. If you rent one MAKE SURE OF THE TIDE CHANGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gets crazy there and you will really have to hump to get back against the tide.

Great place for MX but way too sandy for mountain bikes. The official name for this area is "the W" being the sign for exit 16W is next to the MX track.

I have ridden moto there, place is pretty sandy. If you want to ride only the washout sections of allaire try riding there. There is no way a mountain bike would be fun at the meadowlands.

Thanks, guys. I figured there had to be trails in there. Never thought it would be sand. I don't mind the flat, but sand is a big no.
